"During the demolition works of Intermediate Road Bridge this weekend, we received a visit on Saturday from Alwyn Davies who worked on the original A465 scheme in the 1960’s. As part of Alwyn’s job he was involved with the concrete finishing works on Intermediate Road Bridge.
Alwyn is a keen follower of A465Section2 and has visited our office on a number of occasions with photographs and stories of his time on the project."

In January 2019, after a public vote, the Gateway Bridge was named the "Jack Williams Gateway Bridge" after the World War One soldier who was awarded the Victoria Cross. Company Sgt Major John Henry Williams - known as Jack - was born in Nantyglo in 1886.
He served in the 10th Battalion, South Wales Borderers and was awarded the VC after storming a machine gun post

17th AUGUST 2020
A weekend road closure was required for a major traffic switch that would see traffic being diverted up onto the elevated section at Brynmawr. Unlike any other closure to date, the closure was between Ebbw Vale to Brynmawr and Brynmawr to Gilwern, due to the extensive tie in works required at either end of the elevated section.
